About the architect

The Architect of the Dune House was William Morgan, an American architect that grew up in Jacksonville, graduated from Harvard and opened his own architectural practice. Over his time, he designed multiple residences and buildings all throughout Florida, wrote 5 books, had his work featured in multiple architectural reviews, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award. He was truly a symbol within the architectural community, well known throughout Florida for his incredible works, and a bit of a celebrity within Jacksonville and it's beaches area.

The owners of these properties are a married couple from South Florida, William Carl Drew and Jennie Malloy. Upon their purchase, it was duly noted from the architect, the architect's wife, and the local community, that the staple of the "Dune House" had to be preserved and should be unaltered.

After a short couple months, William and Jennie realized the true meaning of the Dune House and it's role as an icon to the city of Atlantic Beach. They have since kept the Dune House in impeccable condition and (with the approval of the architect's wife) gave the house a "modern refresh."
